乔家大院

乔家大院位于山西省祁县乔家堡村，是清代著名的商业金融资本家乔致庸的宅第。大院为全封闭式的城堡式建筑群，三面临街，不与周围居民相连，布局严谨，设计精巧，气势宏伟，威严高大。乔家大院原名在中堂，占地9000平米，由313间房间，和4000平米的大小25座庭院组成。素有“皇家有故宫，民宅看乔家”之说，名扬三晋。

Qiao Family Compound 

The Qiao Famaily Compound （simplified Chinese: 乔家大院, pinyin: Qiao Jia Da Yuan）, is located in Qi County, Shanxi, China, approximately 30 kilometers northeast of the historic City of Pingyao. Construction began in 1756 during the reign of the Qianlong emperor of the Qing dynasty and was completed some time in the 18th century. The courtyard estate covers 9000 square meters and has 313 rooms with 4000 square meters within 6 large courtyards and 19 smaller courtyards. Its original Chinese name was Zai Zhong Tang (在中堂）. Architects consider it to be one of the finest remaining examples of imposing private residences in northern China. It has been converted into a museum and has many period furnishings. It is the residential compound of well-known financier Qiao Zhiyong（乔致庸，1818-1907）,who was the most famous member of the Qiao family.
